Thai-Ju-Jitsu FAQ

Would you go to the ground in the street?

Sometimes the decision is not yours to make, it could depend on the terrain.

What about multiple attackers while you are on the ground?

If they're in multiples, chances are you are going to get your ass kicked anyway whether you are going to stand up or not but it's better to be prepared for a ground situation than not to be prepared.

What about biting, eye gouging and attacking the groin in a grappling situation?

Let's put it this way. Any fool can pull a trigger, but a person who practices shooting every day at a shooting range, knows how to shoot better. Basically what I'm trying to say is this; We all have fingers and teeth but arming myself with grappling puts me in a better position to use these tools, perhaps more efficiently than the person without grappling skills.

How do you beat a grappler?

This statement has been made several times by many other martial artists that are not grapplers and they feel they have the answer. Many martial art instructors have spent many years and thousands of hours practicing only striking and after reaching the level of instructor, they don't want to become the student again. So it's for this reason that they teach biting, eye gouging and attacking the groin as a condescending way to beat the grappler. But the real answer to this is, if you can't beat them, join them. It's the only way to understand your enemy. Become a grappler yourself.
